This collection has been established through a long-term collaboration with core partners from the Rwanda Development Board’s Department of Tourism and Conservation (RDB), Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (DFGFI), Gorilla Doctors, and Institute of National Museums of Rwanda. It is housed at the DFGFI’s Karisoke Research Center in Muzanze, Rwanda, under the authority of RDB.

It is housed at the ITFC in Ruhija, Uganda, under the authority of UWA.
